You only need the full 50 g of the caterpillar’s body color and less of the other colors. I used four colors of fine cotton yarn and 1 ball of 50 g per color + some leftover color to embroider the face. Intermediate: basic knowledge of different crochet stitches is required. For older children, I leave those out and let it be like a doll that they can dress and undress. If you intend to make this toy for a baby, you can easily add a rattle bead and some crinkle material. The rings that make up the body of the caterpillar can rotate for extra fun. You can also use it to explain how a hungry caterpillar transforms into a beautiful butterfly! This amigurumi is not just very cute, but also educational. If you make the toy according to the pattern, it will be a medium sized toy of about 18 cm / 7 inch tall. This cutie is the perfect handmade gift for a babyshower, but also for children that are a bit older and can already change the caterpillar into a butterfly themselves.
